He obtained his MD (Radiation Oncology) in 1981 from Indore University and DNB (Radiation Oncology) degree of National Board of Examination in 1984. He joined Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in 1982. Dr Shrivastava served as Professor and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital for over 14 years prior to his superannuation in October 2016. He is recognized as an expert in modern radiotherapy practice using state-of-the-art modalities including IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic radiation, SBRT, image-guided brachytherapy and intraoperative brachytherapy etc. He has trained people in various countries in his specialty.
Dr Shrivastava has over 250 research publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and book chapters to his credit. He is an excellent teacher and his students are successfully practicing in India and abroad. He has been the examiner in several universities in India and in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, etc...
