He qualified as a European Certified Medical Oncologist (ECMO). While pursuing his MD, Dr. Biswas was stationed as a Medical Officer at the RFWC Public Health Centre in Bolangir, Orissa, and as Junior Resident at the MKCG Medical College, Behrampur. Later, he was resident at the Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research, New Delhi. As a DM postdoctoral student at Tata Memorial, Dr. Biswas served as Senior Resident in the department of Medical Oncology and also carried out autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant (BMT) as part of his training. He visited MDACC in Texas, USA, as an observer in the BMT unit; leukaemia and lymphoma services; and, head, neck & thoracic services. Post-DM, Dr. Biswas continued working as Specialist Registrar at TMH for six months, before he joined as full-time Consultant. Dr. Ghanashyam Biswas has co-authored numerous research papers and articles, many of which have found their way to publication in indexed journals of repute, both national as well as international. Some of these papers have been presented by him or his colleagues at relevant conferences in India and overseas.
