Dimple Parmar

Colorectal Cancer, Caregiver, Bangalore

Diagnosed in 2016

In 2016, a routine health checkup led to the discovery that Nitesh had Stage 3 colorectal cancer. He was broken, but managed to rise above the initial shock, believing there was a solution to every problem. Through this journey, Dimple stood resolutely by Nitesh’s side. Despite his failing health, both decided to get engaged on their graduation day in April 2017. The following year was filled with interventions, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. However, just when they thought that they had defeated the dreaded disease, a post-treatment scan in June showed that the disease had metastasised to his lungs, pelvis, and other abdominal areas. There were a total of 12 tumours. Not willing to accept defeat, Dimple decided to marry Nitesh and vowed to never leave his side.

Both moved to the US to participate in advanced clinical trials. They both spent sleepless nights trying to study different ways of defeating this dreaded disease. From understanding the nature of cancer and how it can multiply and foster in one’s body to allopathic medications and holistic treatments, including dietary changes, yoga, meditation, pranic healings, and naturopathy, both charted out a list on “do’s and don’ts” for cancer. They got immense support in this difficult journey through both friends and strangers.

By January 2018, Nitesh was in pain, but there was no suffering. There was so much love and happiness in him; he wanted to give all this support back to the society that unconditionally helped him. Unfortunately, cancer took Nitesh away from Dimple in March 2018. Dimple was disheartened after losing Nitesh, but stood up to fight cancer to save 1000s of other Niteshs. She decided to dedicate the rest of her life to help cancer patients and started an NGO called Love Heals Cancer. In 2019, her friend Kishan also decided to join her in this journey and they both started ZenOnco.io together with the vision to save lives of cancer patients by making Integrative Oncology accessible and affordable for all. Today, Dimple leads a fulfilling life by serving others, and inspires thousands of patients and caregivers to heal themselves from cancer.
