پچھلے دو سال میرے اور میرے خاندان کے لیے کافی پریشان کن رہے ہیں۔ ہمیں کئی مسائل کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔ اگرچہ خوشی کچھ عرصے سے آس پاس ہے، لیکن کینسر کی وجہ سے ہونے والی اداسی نے اس پر چھایا ہوا ہے۔ 2019 میری زندگی کا ایک اہم سال تھا۔ میں نے شادی کر لی اور نئی زندگی شروع کرنے کے لیے تیار تھی۔ لیکن شادی کا پس منظر ایک اداس تھا کیونکہ میرے چچا خوفناک بیماری سے لڑ رہے تھے۔ کینسر سے لڑنے والے میرے چچا کی طرح زندہ دل کسی کو دیکھنا مشکل تھا۔ اسے طبی امداد ملی اور وہ ابھی تک زیر علاج ہے۔ میرے چچا ان سب سے خوش کن لوگوں میں سے ایک تھے جن سے آپ کبھی ملیں گے، اور انہیں اس طرح کی سنگین حالت کے خلاف لڑتے ہوئے دیکھ کر بہت تکلیف ہوتی ہے۔ میرے چچا وہ ہیں جو ایک بار میری زندگی میں امید اور خوشی کی ضرورت کے لیے کھڑے تھے۔ لیکن کینسر کے آغاز کے بعد، معاملات نے ایک سخت موڑ لیا. یہاں اس کی کہانی ہے.

میرے چچا پنکج کمار جین کولکتہ کے رہنے والے ہیں۔ وہ ایک پچاس سالہ شادی شدہ آدمی ہے جس کے تین وارڈ ہیں۔ جب بھی ہم ان کے بارے میں بات کرتے ہیں تو ہمارے سامنے جوش اور رجائیت کی علامت ہوتی ہے۔ پیشے سے چارٹرڈ اکاؤنٹنٹ، میرے چچا نے اپنی ایک کمپنی بھی چلائی۔ اس عمر میں جہاں زیادہ تر لوگ ریٹائرمنٹ کے بارے میں سوچتے تھے، میرے چچا باقاعدگی سے بیڈمنٹن اور ٹینس کورٹ میں ٹکراتے تھے۔ ایک زندہ دل اور فعال آدمی ہونے کی وجہ سے اسے اپنے ساتھیوں سے بہت زیادہ کمانے میں مدد ملی۔ لیکن میزیں پچھلے سال اپریل میں بدل گئیں جب ہمیں پتہ چلا کہ وہ کینسر میں مبتلا ہے۔ یہ سال کا آغاز تھا جب انہیں پھیپھڑوں میں درد کی وجہ سے ہسپتال میں داخل کرایا گیا تھا۔

Unnecessary clotting of fluids was found in his lungs, and he underwent tapping. Filling his lungs with liquid was an acute symptom of Pulmonary Tuberculosis, and we hoped for a fast cure. But little did we know four months down the line, we would be praying for his life. After medication started, he complained of Pain in his lungs again in April. It turned out to be the same liquid, and we suspected that something was wrong. When he underwent a Positron Emission Tomography (پیئٹی) scan, it was found that he had been affected by cancer. The cancer was in the fourth stage and had affected his kidney, bones, and lungs. It was moving fast towards his brain as well. We contacted the Tata Medical Centre, but it was up to avail. Ultimately, we had to fly all across the nation to Mumbai to get him proper treatment. It was sad seeing him in such a sorry state. A person who was known for the life he provided to people around him and now become extremely reserved and private.

Currently, he is continuing his immunotherapy کے sessions, which started back in September 2019. The primary tumor in the kidney has reduced, and we hope that he can brave through this. He has also undergone two Radiotherapy sessions and ten radiations. His health is improving, but the doctors have not yet confirmed anything. As cancer had never appeared in my family tree, my Uncle was quickly losing his hopes of getting out of the struggle alive. Post cancer he has become bed-ridden and has lost his appetite completely. There is a difference between hell and heaven between Prakash from before cancer and Prakash post-cancer. But you can never put down the positivity of a person. You won't believe it, but my Uncle danced at my wedding and greeted the guests too. Fascinatingly, this was during the time when he was under medication. What I learned from my Uncle's struggle with cancer was that everything depends upon your will power. Getting healed from a disease like cancer is more of a lifestyle thing. You should never lose hope and continue fighting against the disease till it gets kicked out of your system!
