Vi gick igenom en fruktansvärd fas och var oroliga för hans hälsa. Efter testet sa läkarna att jag kunde donera min njure, och vi var väldigt lättade. Men bara två dagar senare kände jag en knöl i mitt bröst, och när jag pratade om det med min man bad han mig att få det undersökt.

Dagen efter konsulterade jag en läkare och gjorde en mammografi. Resultaten visade att jag knölade. Det är väldigt svårt att tro att man har en sjukdom och man tvivlar på om den är rätt eller fel. Jag tog rapporterna och gick till en specialistläkare. Han sa att det kändes som en stor klump. Jag genomgick fler tester och han sa att det behövde opereras direkt. Det var en stor chock eftersom jag var på väg att donera min njure, men sedan förändrades min roll och jag skulle bli patient.

Det var en stenhård tid. Vi hade ingen sjukförsäkring. Jag var orolig för min son eftersom han hade fullständig tro på att jag skulle donera njuren och rädda hans liv. Min man var diabetiker, så han kunde inte donera. Min andra son var bara ett och ett halvt år äldre än min yngre son, så jag var den enda som kunde donera.

Bröstcancerbehandling

From 1997 to 1998, we faced uncertainty as we did not know what would happen and how we would come out of it. I didn't spend time considering my own emotions. I was on a single thought process. I just had to donate my kidney. The plan made by my oncologist was so good that everything went very smoothly for me. I was a working woman, and I never took leave. I just took a break from theSurgeryand then went back to work because I didn't want to lose any income.

The urologist asked us to wait till he becomes 15 years old because things settle down in puberty. I didn't take a second opinion. One day he had a headache, so we went to the doctor and tested his eyes, but it was nothing. We went to the family doctor, who tested his blodtryck, and it was high.
