Latest Research on Metastatic Breast Cancer

Executive Summary

Several research studies have been conducted to seek more information on metastatic breast cancer, their related prevention method, their diagnostic approach at the initial phase, and the best treatments strategies. Through clinical trials, new options for patients are being integrated into metastatic breast cancer research. Several NCI-funded scientists at the NIH site are looking for better strategies to combat breast cancer. The breast specialized programs are intended to expedite preliminary scientific results into clinical practice. The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) aims to increase our understanding of how breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis, screening, and treatment affect outcomes. Medical, emotional, social, environmental, and other aspects that may influence cancer survival will be investigated by Detroit ROCS. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) finances and monitors early and delayed clinical studies or trials to develop novel medicines and enhance patient care.

Advancement in Metastatic Breast Cancer Research

Researchers around the globe are constantly working day and night to enhance the knowledge of how to treat, diagnose, and cure breast cancer.

There’s also been promising progress in improving the quality of life of cancer patients and cancer survivors. The present research on metastatic breast cancer and trials that have been done/are in progress are constantly looking into improving the current breast cancer screening tools 1. Advances in imaging technology open up new possibilities for better screening and early detection of breast cancer.

NCI – SUPPORTED RESEARCH PROGRAMS

Several NCI-funded scientists at the NIH site and across the United States and the world are looking for better strategies to combat breast cancer. Some studies are fundamental, looking into topics as broad as cancer’s scientific underpinnings and the social variables influencing cancer risk. Some are more clinical, attempting to apply this foundational knowledge to better patient outcomes. The initiatives listed below are just a tiny sample of the NCI’s breast cancer research endeavors.

Early Detection and Treatment Research on Metastatic Breast Cancer

The breast specialized programs are intended to expedite preliminary scientific results into clinical practice. The Breast SPOREs fund research and development of new medicines, technologies and studies are integrated to understand better tumor resistance, diagnosis, prognosis, breast cancer screening, prevention, and therapy 2. The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) aims to increase our understanding of how breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis, screening, and treatment affect outcomes.

Health Disparities Research

The Detroit Research on Cancer Survivors (Detroit ROCS) study, financially supported by the National Cancer Institute, will examine the main factors affecting tumor growth, frequency, death rates, and living standards among African-American survivors of four different cancers, including breast cancer 3. Medical, emotional, social, environmental, and other aspects that may influence cancer survival will be investigated by Detroit ROCS.

Clinical Trials of Metastatic Breast Cancer

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) finances and monitors early and delayed clinical studies or trials to develop novel medicines and enhance patient care. Breast cancer preventive, screening, and therapy trials are all offered 4.
