A meningioma is a tumor that starts from the meninges that are the membranes that surround the brain and also the spinal cord. However, it cannot be called a brain tumor technically. It is involved in this category because it compresses and squeezes the adjacent brain, nerves, and vessels. Meningioma is the most familiar type of tumor that forms in the head.
