Emotional wellness

Keep Calm

Cancer, right from diagnosis through the treatment up to the recovery process, is rather painful and is a challenging process for anyone. It not only destroys a part of your body, but it can also eat away at your mind. In such trying times, it is crucial for patients, their family members and caregivers to be in a good mental state to reduce suffering as much as possible. It is critical to stay calm and optimistic during the entire treatment and remission process to have a complete recovery.

ZenOnco.io believes in a holistic approach to oncological practices and techniques. Therefore, we have introduced special programs designed to enhance the conventional treatments for cancer by augmenting it with wellness practices that improve the overall physical and mental health of the patients. At ZenOnco.io, we strive to provide reassurance and help calm the patients by providing psychological and emotional support through our various initiatives and programs that come under the umbrella term of ‘integrative oncology.’

Integrative oncology practices are vital for patients with cancer to cope with the heavy physical and mental toll that cancer and Cancer Treatment takes on them, be it through exercise and fitness or counseling and therapy. There has also been evidence to suggest that patients who receive integrative therapies along with their standard medical treatments, as opposed to the traditional treatment alone, have a higher chance of living longer after the treatment period.

The five wellness practices undertaken by ZenOnco.io as part of their integrative oncology protocol to accompany typical cancer treatments are.

  1. Get community support.
  2. Nourish yourself.
  3. Cancer-proof your home
  4. Stay fit.
  5. Keep Calm

‘Keeping calm’ is all about being in the right mental temperament before, during, and after cancer. Apart from the physical side effects of cancer and its treatment such as fatigue, change in appetite, pain, Nausea and vomiting, hair loss, etc., it also has numerous mental side effects. These include stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and lack of sleep. It is not only necessary to alleviate the patients from these side effects because of the inherent suffering associated with them but also because these mental disturbances can affect how the body responds to treatment, the patient’s immune system, and they can increase the risk of cancer progression and compromise the overall health of the body.

Thus, we, at ZenOnco.io, believe that keeping a calm composure, working through each process one step at a time, and ample emotional support from family and the community at large will help to reduce the suffering of the patient and drastically improve the overall efficacy of the cancer treatments.

‘Keep calm’ consists of four aspects. These are:

  • Mindfulness
  • Emotional and spiritual wellness
  • Guided imagery
  • Mind-body approaches

Let us take a look at each one of them and what they encompass in detail one by one.
