Omega-3 fatty acids

Clinical Evidence of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Cancer

Omega-3 has consistently shown effective performance in treating cancer. Here are a few shreds of evidence of Omega-3 in different cancer types.

  • Prostate Cancer

A study was conducted between a group of men suffering from Prostate Cancer. They were asked to utilize Omega-3 supplements constantly for about 6 weeks before the cancer Surgery. This study was then distinguished with people who were consuming their traditional diet, independent of fish or its supplements. The result suggested that the group of men who consumed Omega-3 supplements had a reduced proliferation index due to which the plasma mitigated the expansion of prostate cells. Along with this, these supplements helped in enhancing resistance to cancer treatments like radiotherapy, decreasing several inflammatory effects, and altering the serum-insulin expansion factor.

  • Colorectal Cancer

People consuming a diet consisting of Omega-3 supplements are said to have a substantially higher chance of surviving Colorectal Cancer. Moreover, it also enhanced the survival rate in patients experiencing and undergoing Surgery related to liver resection.

  • Breast Cancer

Studies suggest that Omega-3 enhanced the overall outcomes and symptoms experienced in Breast Cancer patients while undergoing Chemotherapy. Several factors can increase the risk of developing breast cancer. These include age (the risk increases with age), a family history of breast cancer, certain genetic mutations (such as BRCA1 and BRCA2), hormonal factors (early onset of menstruation, late menopause), obesity, alcohol consumption, and exposure to estrogen (such as hormone replacement therapy).

  • Laboratory Tests

Several clinical trials on animals, along with laboratory tests, are being done to determine the vitality of Omega-3 for Cancer Treatment. Omega-3 fatty acids drive the mitigation of human cancer cells. Today they are said to play an indispensable role in enhancing their effectiveness in standard anti-cancer treatments. Omega-3 is said to lower proliferation in patients who have Breast Cancer. Moreover, it motivated the risk of developing Ovarian Cancer in a few patients, enhanced growth suppression, and induced apoptosis.

  • Additional

Furthermore, Omega-3 is said to be a conflicting factor in mitigating symptoms of cancer treatments like Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. Studies noted that patients did not suffer any adverse effects by consuming Omega-3.
