Cholesterol Spinach

Cholesterol spinach (Gynura Procumbens) is a plant that was first grown in Nepal. It has gained attention as a cholesterol-lowering dietary supplement in Hawaii. Despite the popularity of this herb, there is no data to support its effectiveness. it is said to lower high cholesterol levels in the body but their is no scientific evidence that supports this claim.

Gynura, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, contains bioactive components, alkaloids, and steroids that play a crucial role in reducing inflammation. It has traditionally been used for treating rheumatism, an inflammatory condition causing joint and muscle discomfort.

Do not consume it if you have a compromised immune system as a result of chemotherapy, HIV infection, immunosuppressive medications, or other factors. In diabetic rats, an extract from Gynura procumbens, decreased blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. 

Studies indicate that the ethanol extract of Gynura leaves exhibits anti-hyperlipidemic properties, reducing sugar levels and promoting low cholesterol levels, which can protect against heart and liver issues. Additionally, the plant’s fat-burning capabilities offer the advantage of weight loss.

Gynura is a natural therapy for diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure, potentially preventing and treating hypertension by increasing nitric oxide production. It can be consumed in various forms, such as in smoothies, soups, and teas, or added to sandwiches and salads as a nutritious snack. However, immunocompromised individuals should avoid it due to the risk of contamination.
